Next stop: Abu Dhabi

Müller & Schindler at book fair (ADIBF 2023)

This year again, together with our partner publishing house, the Faksimile Verlag, we are taking part in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2023 (ADIBF 2023) presenting our fine art manuscripts. The Abu Dhabi Book Fair is considered one of the fastest growing book events in the Middle East and North Africa.

This year’s book fair takes place from May 22 to 28, 2023. You will find us on site with our own booth (8C39) as well as integrated in the German Pavilion (8F05).

We are currently working at full speed and preparing our trade show. As in previous years, some of our fine art manuscripts are traveling with us to the most important book fair in the Arab world. We would particularly like to emphasise on our new releases and product highlights:

Masterpieces of Islamic book art

Fabulous manuscripts were produced throughout the Islamic world for many centuries. Some of them are now being partially reproduced for the first time as true-to-the-original fine art facsimile leaves. They form a unique collection that illustrates the craftsmanship of calligraphers and illuminators from more than ten centuries and from different cultural backgrounds in the Islamic world.

The Stars of Samarkand. Ulugh Beg’s Book of the Fixed Stars by Al-Sufi

The sky and its stars have always fascinated people worldwide – and this manuscript gives us an insight into the legendary Samarkand, mythical centre of the Silk Road in the 15th century and synonym for oriental splendour under the Timurids. Ulugh Beg, a scientist on a ruler’s throne, had the famous 10th-century text by Al-Sufi calligraphed and painted as a magnificent manuscript for his personal library.

The Parisian Sketchbooks by Leonardo da Vinci. Personal ideas of the great universal genius.

Five-hundred years after the death of one the greatest geniuses of all times, the Faksimile Verlag issues a unique testimony of Leonardo da Vinci’s creations and ideas: a total of 12 sketchbooks filled with his personal notes are kept today in the Institut de France in Paris and are going to be published over the upcoming years as true-to-original facsimile editions. The series starts with the manuscripts A, E, M as well as Complément A – and allows us to immerse in the thoughts of this great Renaissance Man.

The Aratea Vaticana – a dazzling trip to the stars

From time immemorial, the starry sky has fascinated and excited mankind. For this reason, astronomy is one of the oldest sciences of all – myths, rites, ruler cults, cultic worship of the stars, the development of calendar systems and more generally the determination of time were linked to this science, which was also always accompanied by a mystical component. One of the most beautiful astronomical manuscripts is the Aratea Vaticana, which shows star constellations and images in 42 magnificent golden miniatures.

We would like to welcome you at our booth and show you personally our precious manuscripts. You find us in hall 8, booth number C44.
