Frankfurter Buchmesse 2020 – a special edition
Under this year’s motto “All together now” the Frankfurter Buchmesse took place from October 14 – 18, 2020, as a special edition and entirely without hall exhibitors. It was a virtual book fair that has adapted to the current situation through an expanded digital offering.
We, from Verlag Müller and Schindler – together with our publishing colleagues and friends, the Facsimile Verlag and Eikon Editores – jumped on this (digital) bandwagon and have adapted our presence to this year’s trade fair accordingly.
Since we were unable to present our facsimile editions and new releases as well as innovative projects on site in Frankfurt, we decided to go virtual. Our online presence was very well received and therefore we decided to continue with it beyond the days of the fair. Here you can visit our virtual exhibition booth!
One of our highlights was definitely our traditional aperitif with our friends and colleagues from our publishing house. This format also had to be adapted and thus the world’s largest publishing group for facsimiles invited to the first virtual aperitif.
After some opening words from our publisher Charlotte Kramer, the pianist Alejandro Pelayo carried us away with his meditative sounds into a world of virtuosity and relaxation. Almost 50 participants from six different countries shared this harmonious moment with us and it showed that – although a personal meeting was not possible this year – the world holds together! Many thanks to everyone who made this very successful meeting during the virtual book fair possible!
Finally, we would like to pass this wonderful evening in review. We really enjoyed our first virtual aperitif, however we are already looking forward to next year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse, when we will (hopefully) meet again in person.
