ADIBF 2022: Germany Guest of Honour
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF 2022) has already become an integral part of our annual trade fair appearances. Since Germany was this years’ guest of honour, we enjoyed a unique stage to draw special attention to our fine art facsimile editions.
Gift presentation to Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE
A major highlight for us during the opening ceremony of the book fair was the solemn handover of the freshly published edition “The Stars of Samarkand – Ulugh Beg’s Book of the Fixed Stars by Al-Sufi” by our publisher Charlotte Kramer to His Highness Saif bin Zayed al Nahyan (United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister). The handover took place together with the German ambassador Ernst Peter Fischer and in the presence of the director of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, Jürgen Boos.
Intercultural exchange
We look back on seven intensive trade fair days. During this time, we had the opportunity to get to know the Arabic culture even better and to share our know-how with an international audience. The guest of honour stage offered us the perfect framework, where we could both present our products and provide information about the protection and preservation of cultural heritage in the Arab world within a panel discussion.
Impressions and further highlights
Other highlights for us were the visit of the Austrian ambassador Dr. Andreas Liebmann at our own booth. The press also took notice of us, and we even had the opportunity to view the original of one of our fine art single leaves “Young man with a Falcon“, as it can currently be admired as part of a special exhibition “Stories of Paper” in the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
But since pictures are known to speak louder than words, we have put together a small photo gallery with our best impressions of Abu Dhabi, the book fair, and the surroundings.
It is brilliant that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair was able to take place again in its usual framework. For us, the personal international contact and the intercultural exchange were particularly important and enriching. We would like to thank our colleagues and friends of the publishing house for their great support. Special thanks go to our two publishing partners, Faksimile Verlag and Eikon Editores, who once again accompanied us to Abu Dhabi. We are already looking forward to the next edition!
